Karbala Park and Lavatory Complex

  • Client: Imam Hussain (as) Shrine Authority
  • Location: Karbala, Iraq
  • Starting Date: 2004
  • Status: Completed 2005

Situated in Karbala, this project was designed to serve the community, sampling the beauty of nature in a green area sized at 2700m2. It provides an inclusive recreational space for all to enjoy, with a lavatory complex located near the Holy Shrine catering to the needs of the community and pilgrims for both men and women.

The park is designed with the climate of Iraq in mind, placing benches under shade that face a row of small waterfalls. These waterfalls are accompanied by small plant beds, boosting the aesthetic pleasure for visitors to the park.

The Karbala Lavatory Complex is built underground and includes 400 WCs; 200 for men and 200 for women. These WCs are made of modern bathrooms and washing basins, creating an ideal and convenient park.
