Karbala Medan Mall

  • Project: Medan Mall (Shopping Centre)
  • Client: Municipality of Karbala
  • Location: Karbala, Iraq
  • Starting Date: 2010
  • Status: Completed 2012

Description
The Medan Mall blurs the lines between traditional Islamic design and modern architecture. Providing 182 shops, spread over 10,000m2 and 4 floors, this project stands as a luxurious addition to the beautiful city of Karbala.

The building’s exterior showcases arabesque styling, a derivative of conventional Islamic art. This is complimented on an internal Mosque, offering the people of Karbala the convenience of enjoying Medan Mall and fulfilling religious obligations simultaneously.
The design also offers ease of access in two panoramic elevators. Not only do they grant aesthetic pleasure from Medan Mall’s view, but they also ensure inclusivity for all to enjoy the centre. Included in the view is an internal green area. The green area adds a hint of nature, bringing out the marble walls running along on either side.
